What is Baptism?
The Bible teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Jesus Christ. Making a decision to follow Jesus when no one is looking is significant, but there’s something powerful about publicly declaring, in front of family and friends, that you’ve given your life to Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
WHEN SHOULD I GET BAPTIZED?
As soon as you believed. Acts 8:12 says, "But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women."
WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED
Because Jesus commanded it Jesus says, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)
WHY BE BAPTIZED BY IMMERSION
Because Jesus was baptized that way. "As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove." (Matthew 3:16) Every baptism was done my immersion.
